PUNE (POONA) RACECOURSE

The Pune Racecourse, built in 1830, is situated in Western India in Pune Cantonment on 118.5 acres. The land is owned by the Indian Army and, as well as stable blocks on the course, there are additional stabling facilities barely 1 kilometre away at Empress Gardens.

The season stretches from July to October and the principal race is the Pune Derby. Other feature races include the Royal western Indi Turf Club Gold Cup, the Independence Cup and the Southern Command Cup. The Group 1 Signature Indian St Leger is also staged at the track.
